To start off, let me just say that marketing is not my strong suit. Despite having my own business and trying desperately to promote myself, I often fall flat. Hashtags, advertisements, social media posts that increase engagement, they all are still quite foreign to me.
The problem is, today we live in a "social world." A world that uses so many forms of social media and marketing is personalized for the individual. A world where you can try on clothes in the comfort of your home to see which ones you like, and we as consumers have everything at our fingertips.
How do you market to people that have everything in the palm of their hand?

Before its time, Warby Parker figured out how to cater to the social media consumer. Ever heard of them? If you wear glasses, the answer is probably yes. Started back in 2010 by college students who were displeased by the cost of eyewear and its inaccessibility, Warby Parker was the start of something useful and ingenious: an online platform for prescription glasses.
Why is this so important?
Each time you have to go to your eye doctor creates another trip, another cost for gas, etc., etc., etc., it is unsustainable for the average worker of today, and for the people who live in rural areas far away from any eye doctor. With Warby Parker, the consumer, you, can purchase glasses online from the comfort of your home, or on the go with just a click of a button. Instant purchase of glasses that are then shipped directly to your door. No more unnecessary outings to the eye doctor's.
Not only did this cut the cost of travel for the consumer, but also the cost of the eyewear itself, as Warby Parker didn't have to go through showrooms and everything else. With glasses designed in-house, they are able to keep prices down, attracting even more customers.
Now you might be wondering, what about trying them on? True, how would you know if the glasses fit your face shape and style?

Warby Parker thought of all that. With their innovative approach to eyeglass purchasing, Warby Parker thought of each detail including trying five pairs of glasses on at your own home. A try-before-you-buy option. You choose your own styles, they ship them to you, and you try each of them before choosing which one is the winner. Simply ship the other four back, no cost to you!
So, there you have it: Warby Parker, ahead of its time back in 2010, but apart of the norm now. Just think, what might be next? There are so many possibilities and we have already seen so much happen in the past thirteen years since Warby Parker was imagined.
